Strategy

Project Prosperity is implementing an ecosystem approach to the
development of the dairy and apiculture sectors in the East Africa region through the
following strategic projects:

Modernizing Dairy Farming

Project Prosperity is currently developing a multi-functional Fintech and Agritech application that will perform the following tasks:

  • Digitalize farm records and improve farm management.
  • Provide farmers with information on best practices in dairy farm management.
  • Establish a milk payment system based on quality.
  • Connect farmers with input suppliers.
  • Encourage the adoption of drought-tolerant grass varieties to reduce vulnerability to climate change and support consistent milk production.

Increasing Farm Milk Quality and Quantity

Project Prosperity is working closely with a team of Dairy Development Executives (DDEs) to support over 9,000 dairy farmers across the region over a five-year period. The initiative provides a range of services to farmers, including weekly consultation with DDEs, who are trained to provide expert advice on best practices in dairy farm management. In addition, Project Prosperity provides farmers with access to essential farm inputs such as high-quality seeds for improved pasture, veterinary services, and other resources to help them improve their production and increase their income. The goal of this initiative is to provide farmers with the tools and support they need to improve their livelihoods and achieve long-term prosperity..

Carbon Neutrality

Project Prosperity is dedicated to promoting environmental conservation and creating sustainable, green jobs for the local community. The initiative recognizes the important role that agriculture plays in preserving the environment and the need to balance economic growth with conservation efforts. To achieve this, Project Prosperity focuses on implementing sustainable farming practices that conserve natural resources, reduce carbon emissions, and promote biodiversity.

Alternative Energy through Biogas

Project Prosperity is actively working to decrease carbon emissions on farms and promote alternative energy sources by installing biogas systems in its beneficiary farms. Biogas systems, which convert organic matter such as animal waste into methane-rich biogas, can provide a reliable source of energy while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These systems can also help farmers save money on energy costs, reducing their dependence on fossil fuels and promoting more sustainable farming practices.

Manufacturing Waste Management

Project Prosperity is committed to promoting sustainable practices in all aspects of its operations, including waste management. One of the ways the initiative is doing this is by recycling the boiler ash waste generated from the dairy manufacturing process and using it to make eco-friendly bricks. These bricks are then used to construct waste collection bunkers in schools within the areas where Project Prosperity operates.

Tree Planting

Project Prosperity is actively working with women and youth to promote reforestation and environmental conservation by planting 100,000 trees annually. This initiative is focused on not only increasing the number of trees in the region but also on empowering women and youth to take an active role in environmental conservation efforts. By working with local communities, Project Prosperity aims to create jobs, improve the environment, and promote sustainable development.

Setting Up Infrastructure to Enhance Operational Efficiency

Project Prosperity is actively working to improve the milk collection and processing infrastructure in the region. As part of this initiative, the organization plans to establish 77 additional Milk Collection Centres, 4 Milk Bulking Centres, and 25 Milk Coolers on farms in the region, as well as purchase motorbikes for milk collection. These efforts will help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of milk collection and processing, and ultimately benefit the farmers.

Farmer Income Diversification

Project Prosperity is dedicated to improving the livelihoods of dairy farmers by providing them with financial support to improve their business conditions and increase their income. In addition to this, Project Prosperity is also working to diversify farmers’ income streams by promoting apiculture, the practice of keeping bees for honey and other products. To achieve this, the initiative is setting up 50,000 honey hives, recruiting and training 400 Apiculture Development Executives, and onboarding and training 5,000 Apiculture farmers. This will not only provide an additional source of income for farmers but also help in pollination and biodiversity conservation.
